Drove 250 km on black ice in the rain, death around every curve, and that Dodge will not allow you to kill yourself. I have not enjoyed traction control on other vehicles. I’m from Manitoba, where they actually make to ditch a fullsize Pontiac as a li cencing requirement. I should have found a 24 hour truckstop and bunked down, but I had to be some where in the morning. Now I can’t even get there because the highways are littered with death and mayhem. Saskatchewan is a place for advanced motorists, we just don’t have any.

Yeah, I heard it was rough down in Regina. Last night from Tisdale to Saskatoon wasn’t too bad, and Stoon itself is alright today. Stay safe.

My Mini is actually the only car I have owned with traction and stability control. I personally find the traction control annoying when combined with a manual transmission and an open diff and I have never actually gotten the stability to kick in on me.
Fun fact: in 2006 ABS was an option on the Toyota Corolla. The 06 LE that I had was optionless except the automatic transmission (though the LE trim gave it standard AC and power windows) and lacked ABS, TC, and Stability.

Just don’t stop..
My brother was taking his work Pormaster over the Salmo-Creston in the winter and had to stop for avalanche control.
Couldn’t get it going again.. Once the lane started the traction control wouldn’t let it spin to start moving in the snow.. Can’t turn it off in the bare bones work trim. He tried up backing up, still wouldn’t go forward. One of the highway guys ended up tossing a strap on the front and pulling him up to the summit.
Now he’s got a Ferd Transsit. Much better in the snow.

automatic hhr trac control sucked, 5 speed trac control in vibe sucked, The rear drive Fargo with 200+ horse and a stickshift, superb. But I do not like manual trans drive by wire, I like my foo t attached to an engine, also the revs tend to hang when shifting, probably to make it more forgiving but I want a car that does what I tell it. the drive by wire lag was really noticeable on the vibe.

ABS is all good. But I am of the opinion that new drivers should learn how to drive nanny-free. People are getting dumber and cars ares still dangerous. One should be familiar with the physics of motoring. Traction nannies are machines and machines break.
